We drove over 300 miles and saw lots of beautiful scenery, but I didn’t take photos. So except for the eagles below, the pictures on this post are from previous years along the same stretch of road Destruction Bay to Delta Junction.

We slept in this morning then enjoyed a full breakfast at Talbot Arm before hitting the road.

The road conditions were wildly mixed, from excellent pavement to no pavement to frost heaves and pot holes.

We stopped for a full lunch at Fast Eddy’s in Tok. Then (since C is a genius), we were able to renew our car and trailer registration in Tok before getting back on the road.

Before arriving in Delta Junction we were amazed to see Bald Eagles engaged in a dramatic courtship death spiral. They locked talons and rapidly spiraled downwards, then unlocked and continued flying and playing together for some time before disappearing over a distant ridge. While we didn’t capture the death spiral, C is posting a cool video to his Facebook page.

We bought a few groceries in Delta Junction and made our supper at the kitchette in our room at Alaska Frontier Inn.

Tomorrow we should make it to Healy after running our remaining errands in Fairbanks. We’re looking forward to completing the journey!
