I have been chuckling all day since adding “arrange Blind Date” on my to-do list. My proposed dates to reserve a Greater Prairie Chicken Viewing Blind in Minnesota were rejected late last night. Thus, the top priority today was reviewing open dates for the popular blinds at Bluestem Prairie and working one of these dates into our April travel plans.

I am thrilled that this year, we will likely get to quietly freeze our tushes in a wooden box waiting for the sun to rise and hoping some Greater Prairie Chickens decide to show up at their Lek and perform.

With luck in less than 2 months I will be posting about the beautiful birds we watched dancing and heard booming. Last year we didn’t have a reservation https://roaming-nature.com/2024/04/07/day-three-3-states-and-many-snow-geese/

I still hope to write about our January trip to Alabama. I saw much cooler birds than this heron, and can add their photos to that future post.

Six weeks until we leave for Alaska! We found someone to house sit again this summer. We should soon start our packing list, and organize the increasingly ungainly pile in our basement.
