Day Four, 2 States and 6 Pronghorn

Today we left North Dakota and spent most of the day driving north in Saskatchewan (one state and one province).  We saw hundreds of ducks and geese, especially in the Des Lacs NWR.  We also saw 6 pronghorn antelope before entering Canada.

The dots below are ducks and geese.  The lakes were mostly frozen with patches of open water.  Some waterfowl were swimming and other walking or hanging out on the ice.

Lesser Scaups and others?

We are spending the night in the basic but nice Midtown Inn in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.   Including tax it is only about $43 USD!  Nice size room and for the price,  who needs a frig or breakfast.   The tap water is exceptionally good. Would definitely stay here again.

Last year was so much colder!  Check out my 2023 posts for Day 4 (https://roaming-nature.com/2023/03/05/day-four-wi-to-jamestown-nd/  ) and for Saskatchewan  (https://roaming-nature.com/2023/03/07/day-six-estevan-sk-to-lloydminster-ab/ )

    1. He is guessing WWI vintage. He wondered what diameter shell it shot and determined probably 5 or 6 inches.
