Alaska Sealife Center

While in Seward last week I managed to go to the Sealife Center three times.  I especially liked the bird habitat where the birds are used to people and let you get really close. After months of trying to identify unfamiliar birds that won’t sit still, I greatly enjoyed this exhibit.   If I lived in Seward I would have to volunteer here.

Just now realizing I didn’t take any photos of the seals, octopus or sea lions. They were cool too!

If the water weren’t so cold I would love to snorkel around Resurrection Bay which is teaming with life.

I have been hoping to see Eiders all season (Utqiagvik was my best chance). At the bird exhibit I got to see both genders of King Eiders and Spectacled Eiders. Maybe next year I will see some in the wild.

  1. great pictures! on our glacier cruise, the captain often pointed out certain birds, but I never could get a decent picture – you got some good ones – even if they did have to be confined to do it!
