Day Eleven, Fort Nelson to Watson Lake

People in Steaming Hot Springs Surrounded by Snow

Day 2 on the Alaska Highway was awesome.  We saw 2 moose, began crossing the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and then took a lovely break at Liard River Hot Springs.

I loved that there were First Nations people from elders to children also enjoying a soak.  They have used the spring for generations.   On the walk out a man pointed to weasel tracks in the snow.

In the 136 miles between the hot springs and Watson Lake we saw 103 (or was it 106?) Wood Bison!  The largest group was 53 which included calves.

  1. […] What is the coldest temp on our drive through Canada? See below for the coldest during the drive, though the second coldest day (negative 9F) we also went swimming at Liard Hot Springs (I think it was around 0F outside when we got in the hot water). Also see the second post for information on our coldest weather in Healy, (negative 24F).https://roaming-nature.com/2023/03/12/day-eleven-fort-nelson-to-watson-lake/ […]
