Day One, Luray to Zanesville

The trip has begun!  Hearing the truck strain pulling the trailer over the mountains & into a head wind on US Highway 48 was stressful enough that it was hard to truly enjoy the beautiful scenery, majestic windmills and 4 lane road with little traffic.  Only 9.5 mpg, yikes.

Honestly, the morning wasn’t much fun, but at least we didn’t take it out on each other.   After our lunch at a diner, things improved.  C loosened the friction sway bar, plus the new winter tires worked better as temperatures came down.  By the time we crossed the Ohio River, all was well.

We made pasta and meatballs outside in the dark at National Road Campground.  We ate at the picnic table in a brisk 47F evening. Then we took a romantic walk to the dumpster and looked at stars.  It was a surprisingly fun evening!

The campground bathhouse is still closed for the winter.  Hopefully I will write later how we are making that work for us.
