Nebraska and Iowa

ARRIVAL Sculpture by Paul Von Ringelheim

This was not an exciting day.  We started with a quick and friendly oil change at Jiffy Lube before driving 400 miles for the day.

Foot Bridge at East Rest Area

Our truck will have over 200,000 miles on it by the time we get to Virginia, and we try to take good care of it.  We will have driven 20,000 miles in 6 months, which seems ridiculous.

All of today’s photos are from our stop at the I-80 East Rest Area in Milford, NE.  (Yes, an interstate rest area was the day’s highlight.) Not exciting,  but it was a nice leg-stretcher with a trail to a sculpture and a river.

The river (neither Big nor Blue) reminds me of other “farm country” rivers I have seen.  As kids growing up in the Midwest, we used to swim in water that looked like this.

Big Blue River

Our other breaks for the day were a Costco near Omaha which had the most widespread free samples I have ever seen, and a Bass Pro in Altoona, IA which had a cool display of wolves chasing bison.

Three more days, and we will be home!
