We enjoyed our first full day on the ferry, starting with breakfast in the dining room. The beautiful views made up for slow service as far as I was concerned. (C was hungry and wished he had his food sooner.) Random notes on the ferry follow:

One significant change is that WiFi is available. On other trips, I couldn’t be online to write this post.

Our venison has been staying cool enough so far. At the last deck call, we were 28 hours into our 64-hour trip. Too early to tell how much we will need to switch out the meat to keep it frozen, but we are happy that we won’t need to switch today.

We have seen 9 sea otters plus a pod of 7 fast swimming Dall’s Porpoises with “rooster tails” of water coming off their dorsal fins.

The ferry was showing a movie marathon of films about Ketchikan. I started, but while the first film was really good, I missed watching the water too much to continue.

Mostly, I sit in the forward observation lounge with binoculars, looking at beautiful scenery and birds, and hoping for marine mammals. Oh, and while looking at nature, talking to interesting people sitting nearby, most of whom either live in Alaska or are going to work in Alaska for the summer. I love traveling on the Alaska Marine Highway!
