We drove 400 miles today. We wouldn’t have made it so far if more attractions were open. Last night, most of the restaurants and attractions in Medora, ND, were closed until the summer season. Our fun nature stops in Montana today were closed (one opened May 1, the other late April). Even one of the rest areas on the interstate was closed! Reminds us of Alaska…

Speaking of Alaska, above is our car and cabin there this morning. Many rest areas, restaurants, campgrounds, etc won’t open until late May in Alaska.

C spotted a very large hawk beside the road. We could see it well (both sitting and soaring) though we didn’t get any good photos. We are confident it was a Ferruginous Hawk. Gorgeous! We also saw our first elk for this trip.
