Today we drove from Fort St John to Toad River Lodge. All of our miles were within British Columbia, which is 1.5 times the size of Texas. We crossed the highest point on the Alcan (in the Canadian Rockies).

In order today, we saw 4 mule deer, 1 marmot or groundhog (their ranges overlap here), 1 grouse, 2 Moose, 10 Stone Sheep, 4 Caribou, 5 Elk and a small flock of foraging Snow Buntings!

We had yet another day of nice weather, mix of sun and clouds with a high around 50F and low about 28F. Last year in this area our truck heater fan froze up as it was -9F when we started and it didn’t warm up to over -6F for HOURS.

A year ago in Healy the northern lights were amazing. See more aurora photos at https://roaming-nature.com/2023/04/10/aurora-ii-week-4-in-healy/

Tomorrow is Liard Hot Springs, yay!
