We finished Alberta today, and shortly after entering British Columbia, we started the Alaska (Alcan) Highway. I saw 2 Trumpeter (or Tundra?) Swans flying in Alberta as C was napping while I drove. We have about 1600 miles remaining to Healy, Alaska.

We planned to take a photo at the famous Alaska Highway sign in Dawson Creek like last year. The town is repairing and repainting the sign, so the helpful woman at the visitor center took our photo under the little replica above.

We also made a fun stop at the wooden Kiskatinaw Bridge, which was constructed in 1942/1943. It is curved and sloped, very cool. C is in the photo below, above the wooden pier structure. Our truck is at the far end.

Unfortunately, the bridge was temporarily closed in 2021 due to a gradual landslide. Until the ground stabilizes you can’t drive across it, but we did walk it.

One year ago, we were watching a moose clean the salt off the truck. One photo below, see more photos here (including before and after) https://roaming-nature.com/2023/04/08/moose-alaskan-car-wash/

Tonight we are staying at Coast Hotel in Fort St John for about $77 USD including breakfast. The queen room includes a sofa, which is a nice perk.
