March 2023 Recap

As I was writing my annual holiday letter I decided to share some of it via this blog as well. Last year’s letter had several questions about what 2023 would bring (travel questions in bold below). I have been having technical difficulties with this post, hopefully it works out!

What is the coldest temp on our drive through Canada? See below for the coldest during the drive, though the second coldest day (negative 9F) we also went swimming at Liard Hot Springs (I think it was around 0F outside when we got in the hot water). Also see the second post for information on our coldest weather in Healy, (negative 24F).

Weather, Week 4 in Healy

Liard Hot Springs

What is the coldest temp where we still choose to sleep in our cargo trailer vs hotel? Negative 14.5F!

Night Fourteen, Winter Boondock

How long to dig out our 310 SF rental cabin and outhouse once we finally arrive in AK? Less than 24 hours to drive up to the cabin, as we paid for heavy equipment to dig us out. 3 days to have a decent path to the outhouse using a shovel.

As C and I tell friends of our adventures and reminisce with photos, we are increasingly eager to return to Alaska in the spring.

Just finished catching up on some .emails and loved how you captured the early journey with “flashbacks”. So glad we could have the time together the last few days

    With joy in the journey,
