I am not sure about the rest of Virginia, but around our place it is an exceptionally colorful fall. This is the longest and most beautiful fall of my life, starting with the blueberries and aspen in Alaska in early September.

When we arrived in Virginia 2 weeks ago the black gum trees were red. Since then every day changes a bit – maples in red, orange and green; sumac in burgundy and red; hickory and birch in yellow. I wish my photos were as pretty as the woods.

While the reds, oranges and mix of colors here are great, the best fall yellows were in Alaska: https://melissarudacille.wordpress.com/2023/09/23/day-two-palmer-to-valdez/
