We are spending a 2nd day in Bemidji. We went to the nearby state park where some tamarack trees had turned yellow. Like other larch trees they will lose their needles over the winter

At peaceful Big Bog Lake I saw a large otter swimming across the lake and 3 noisy kingfishers.

As we finished driving around Lake Bemidji clockwise we crossed the Mississippi River twice, first where it exits Lake Bemidji, then where it enters the lake, pictured below.

Tomorrow we head for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
