We saw a variety of ducks along the Steese, including some gorgeous ones I had never seen before. I think we saw Scaups, Goldeneyes, and maybe Buffleheads.

We finally saw some mammals! We worked our way up in size. Red squirrels, a beaver, then a porcupine. I most wanted to see caribou while C most wanted to see a bear. C won, seeing a bear (almost certainly a grizzly) cross the road in our rear view mirror.

We boondocked again, not as nice a spot as the first night. I can’t recommend overnighting at Felix Pedro Wayside. Too much traffic, possibly coming from Fort Knox gold mine. However it worked out well for us that we stopped there as we had punctured a trailer tire which was nearly flat. My brilliant husband repaired it in less than 20 minutes!
