Twilight II, Week 7 in Healy

The days are changing so fast. We are up to 17 hours of daylight and it is never very dark.

10:15 p.m. on April 30, civil twilight

We have no true night and no astronomical twilight. I was curious what nautical twilight looks like and took some photos when the clouds were mostly covering the moon.

3:15 a.m. on May 1, moon behind clouds

In real life there was plenty of light to walk around in the woods without a headlamp. Very few stars were visible as it wasn’t dark enough. My phone makes it appear darker in the photos.

3:15 a.m. 2+ hours before sunrise

The above photo is to the northeast during nautical twilight. While there is light on the horizon, over an hour remained until civil twilight, and 2 1/4 hours until sunrise.
